Telehealth Services

Based in beautiful San Diego, my psychology practice provides professional telehealth therapy services to adults throughout California, Hawaii, Florida, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Since March 2020, I have exclusively offered online therapy through secure videoconferencing and phone sessions, allowing clients to access high-quality psychological care from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

My virtual psychology practice is designed to provide accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based therapy for individuals seeking support with trauma, anxiety, PTSD, stress, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. Telehealth therapy allows clients to receive specialized care without the challenges of commuting, traffic, or geographic limitations.

UNDERSTANDING TELEHEALTH

Telehealth, also referred to as telepsychology, telebehavioral health, virtual therapy, online counseling, or telemedicine, is a modern approach to psychotherapy that allows mental health services to be provided remotely using secure electronic communication technologies such as encrypted videoconferencing platforms or telephone sessions.

Online therapy combines the effectiveness of traditional psychotherapy with the convenience and accessibility of modern technology. Through secure telehealth sessions, clients are able to engage in meaningful therapeutic work while remaining in familiar and comfortable surroundings. Many individuals find that participating in therapy from home can actually enhance feelings of safety, emotional openness, and nervous system regulation during treatment.

States Served Through Telehealth Therapy

In adherence to state regulations, my online therapy services are presently limited to individuals residing in the U.S. states where I hold an active license, including:

  • California (PSY 22339)
  • Hawaii (PSY-1139)
  • Florida (TPPY111)
  • Virginia (0810007417)
  • Washington DC (PSY200001849)

BENEFITS OF TELEMENTAL HEALTH

Teletherapy offers a flexible and accessible way to engage in psychological services without the need to travel. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Greater geographical flexibility – Access care from anywhere within the states where I’m licensed.
  • Reduced commute time – No travel required, saving time and energy.
  • Comfort and convenience – Participate in therapy from the privacy and familiarity of your own space.
  • Continuity of care – Stay connected during travel, life transitions, or relocation.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR TELEPSYCHOLOGY

While teletherapy can be an excellent option for many individuals, it may not be the right fit for every clinical situation. Some things to consider:

  • Technology readiness – Comfort with using video platforms and troubleshooting minor tech issues.
  • Privacy needs – Ensuring you have access to a private, quiet environment during sessions.
  • Crisis support – Teletherapy may not be suitable for clients needing intensive, in-person crisis intervention or emergency services.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ONLINE THERAPY

To participate in teletherapy, you will need the following:

  • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam and microphone.
  • A quiet, confidential space free from interruptions or distractions.
  • A secure and stable internet connection (avoid using public Wi-Fi whenever possible).
  • A willingness to engage in the therapeutic process through a HIPAA-compliant video platform.

Additional Telehealth Considerations

  • Video-conferencing carries potential benefits and risks, including limits to patient confidentiality.
  • Confidentiality remains paramount, and no session will be recorded without mutual consent.
  • The chosen video-conferencing platform will be agreed upon, and instructions on its usage will be provided.
  • A backup plan, emergency contact, and the nearest emergency room details will be established for technical problems or crisis situations.
  • Before scheduling, confirm with your insurance company if video sessions are reimbursed; otherwise, full payment is expected.
  • I may, under certain circumstances, determine telepsychology is no longer appropriate.

If you have any questions or you would like to discuss the possibility of setting up a telehealth appointment, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

Telepsychology Competencies Credential

In 2022, I earned the Telepsychology Competencies Credential (TCC), a testament to my proficiency in adapting traditional psychological practices to the digital realm. This credential reflects my commitment to providing ethical and effective telepsychology services, ensuring I stay current and competent in meeting the evolving mental health needs of individuals in today's dynamic landscape.

Distance dissolves in the language of empathy. Telehealth makes mental health care a conversation, not a commute.
